What’s Up Folks?
I love live music. I enjoy being in the audience, feeling the kick drum and the bass I especially enjoy the reaction of the crowd. Earlier this month I was in the audience at the Triad in NYC jamming to the music of the Back Alley Players a soul and blues band.
The performance at the Triad was the CD relese party for “Beyond the Blues” the Back Alley Players debut album. While sitting in the audience I was intrased by the rhymic sounds which included soulful undertones laced with Electric and Funk blues rhythms. The set was opened by vocalist Umar Conry singing “You Make Me Crazy Baby”, “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and “The Jealous Kind” three very distinctly blues songs that make you wonder – Who is this woman? The horns, drums and guitar licks made me pat my feet and pop my fingers to the beat.
By the fourth song “You Been Lyin’ “ everyone in the audience were having such a good time and enjoying the live music being played for us that we were pleasantly surprised when Ms Ebony JoAnn accompanied the band and belted out a wayyyyyyyyyy bluesy tune “Rock Me Baby”.
Honey I had a rocking good time that night and was really excited to pop my newly aquired cd in the player when I got to my car. I think my favorite tune was the last song they played for us “Nuttin’ But The Blues” it features a cool funky rhythm that made the audience hollar for an encore! Although there time was up and they couldn’t grant our request everyone left with a full CD.b
Sugar I have mine so you have to get your copy. “Beyond The Blues” is avaiable on itunes, emusic, napster, rhapsody and of course boneentertainment.com
Until next time…
Keep jammin
